It’s been four months since I first saw Mario Maurer in person. (Wow! 4 freaking months already!) But I still feel like it was just yesterday. I may sound a bit paranoid but yes, I keep track of these stuffs because it’s something that is very special to me.

Since my fangirl life started, I’ve always wished to meet my biases every time they visit the Philippines. And yeah, I always failed. REASONS? I was too young. School. Lack of money. I barely spoke with my grandparents for a week when they didn’t let me go to the F4 concert when I was still in Grade 4 and I was so devastated when Wu Chun and calvin Chen visited the Philippines when I was in junior high. The former was okay with me because yeah, who would allow a kid to join those concerts? But the latter was just so frustrating. I was part of FRH’s fanbase here in the Philippines and I was really updated( esp the stalking parts, i.e, schedule, hotels, cars, etc) but it wasn’t just meant for me. We had school and I didn’t have enough money back then. (It was actually the main reason why I stopped being a fangirl and came back to being just a fan.)

BUT! Last year was different. As you all know, I started ‘loving’ Mario since February and from then, my fangirl was back. Although I was hoping to meet him, I didn’t hope too much because I might get really heartbroken again. BUT! The awesome PublicityAsia came into my life. If I was Cinderella, she’d be my fairyqueenmother. I started following her on twitter since Ed Westwick in Manila days, became a fan, and eventually became a minion. I once saw her replied to a follower whose twitterID has ‘maurer’ on it and she somewhat said that she knows the guy in the follower’s twitterID but it didn’t mean anything to me. Not until she tweeted that she’s having an Asian Superstar to endorse Penshoppe but the Asian Superstar isn’t from Korea. So then and there, spot on, I knew it was Mario Maurer. Yes~ I knew it before it went all out to the public. The rest was history~ So if Ed Westwick flew to Manila to shoot, maybe Mario will fly in too right? But Penshoppe wasn’t selfish, they listened to the fans and gave them the PENSHOPPE Fan Conference 2011. It was still August when I completed my stamp card by the way. (Yes. The top 100 was just too good to be ignored!hahahaha~) And the good thing was that it was on a sembreak, yeah baby, sembreak. Fortunately, my parents promised me since May that I can go to MNL for my semestral break so convincing them wasn’t that hard for me. My mom wanted to go with me to the Fancon but I already warned her that about 3,000 screaming teenagers and a long queue will be waiting for us so she just passes.HAHAHA!

So here’s what I really wanted to blog about. (Too much for the introduction eh?) Here’s my PENSHOPPE FanCon experience in photos.

Honestly, I really thought he prepared a dance number for us!hahahahahaha!

I’m usually the ‘screaming’ and ‘annoying’ one when it comes to concerts and events but that time… I was just in the corner, (I didn’t bother to make siksik myself to the crowd) I just stood there, staring at him and smiling. I couldn’t even utter a single word that time. It was just too good to be true.

I met with a fashion blogger, Ate Keigh of keighjalbuena.blogspot.com . She was really nice and kind in person and she made me feel like a ‘friend’ that time. She even volunteered to take this photo for me :) Thanks Ate Keigh!

Best part of the afternoon? I got to hold his hands in the most unexpected time. HAHAHAHA~ Man. He really understand his fans and tries his best to please of all of us. And that’s what makes 1000x more handsome to me.

These series played a great role in molding me to the fangirl that I am today. MG= Meteor Garden, HK= Hana Kimi (Taiwan), PH= Princess Hours.

METEOR GARDEN. It all started here. Imagine, I was still in elementary (Grade 4 to be exact) when ABS-CBN aired this series here in the Philippines. And it was like the birth or Asianovelas here in the country. We didn’t have internet connections back then so you can just imagine how hard it is to be a fangirl that time. I didn’t miss a single episode. I’ve sang to their songs in my awful mandarin pronunciation. I had almost all their merchandise that were sold near our school from posters to postcards to cellphone cases to watches. I’ve thrown tantrums because my parents and grandparents won’t allow/accompany me to f4 and San Chai’s concert. Yes. I’ve done it all. And I was still a kid.

PRINCESS HOURS. I’ve seen a few korean dramas that I liked but I have to say, Goong was my gateway to fandom. You know that thing when your parents won’t allow you to sleep late, so you’d just sleep at 6:30pm and wake up 10minutes before the airing time of Princess Hours? Haha. Yes. I did that. I had all the Philippine magazines PH was featured. We still didn’t have internet connection back then so every weekends, I travel to the neighboring town just to go to an internet cafe and surf (which was really tiresome and expensive way back) just to check on the forums related to them. My wallet was full of their photos. And most especially, it made me really appreciate Korea and its culture and made me look forward in watching other korean dramas too. And this is the only drama that I watched for over 10 times!hahaha

HANA KIMI (Taiwanese). The fangirling era begins. Well first it was an internet connection era for me. I started watching Hana Kimi online since I was curios with the hype that was going on that time. I missed the few episodes in ABS though. I think I finished the drama in just three days( good enough for a starter like me. ha!) The lead actor really took my breath away (OA lang?HAHAHAHAHAHA!) I started to research (the usual fang thing) about the lead and all of those stuffs. I ended up in a forum for Wu Chun’s group and the rest was history. My skills were developed since my FRH Fangirling days. I did some really weird stuffs and the like. My dad’s iPod is the living proof.haaaa~ Ahhhh~ I just can’t really express myself in words.

CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE. (Additional) After my Wu Chun fangirling things, I had a lie low (since I was pretty upset when I didn’t get to see Wu Chun and Calvin in Manila and because I was busy with school.) I became a fan with a few dramas but the intensity wasn’t just as strong as the ones mentioned above. But then… last year… again because of curiosity about who this Mario Maurer is that has gone viral on my Facebook news feed, I decided to watch his movie, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and then BAM! BAM! BAM! KABOOM! POW! PAK! SIS! BOOM! BAH! The re-birth, the comeback of the stronger fangirl TIMAY. I’ve already mentioned in my post before how he changed my life in a span of 1 year.

Why am I posting this? Nothing. I just wanted to reminisce, to track down where I started and where I am now. For some, being a fangirl is nonsense and just a waste of time, but for me, no. It’s something that I’m proud of. WHY? I don’t know. Maybe because it helped me in a whole lot of ways that’s a bit unusual for some. I think it’s something that I’m good at and something that I can enjoy. Tiring, yes. But it’s also fun.

PENSHOPPE is known for their trendy yet affordable clothes. I’ve known Penshoppe since I was a kid and I have to say, they’ve really come a long way know.

Just last June 2011, PENSHOPPE created a buzz by having the one and only Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass of the ever popular show- Gossip Girl) to be its endorser. Don’t you just love it when you go inside a Penshoppe store and photos of the handsome Ed welcomes you? Well I do!

Plus the fact that they had to bring back Mario to Manila to cater more fans.

Late post but yeah whatever. Valentines isn’t that special for me at all. Since I was a kiddo til high school, it was just ‘another-work-100-times-harder-because-youre-an-officer’ day. But somehow, because of my friends I get to enjoy it. When I was in high school, me and my friends would just plan a ‘pig-out’ / ‘swim-out’ outing after the event in school. Now that I’m in high school, I also get to celebrate valentines with my sisters. It’s kinda a tradition now. We decided to have dinner since almost all of us had classes until 4pm.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about our valentines “pig-out” was that, it would be bestif singles won’t join the hype of dating and all those stuffs during that day. Tinggawas man gud na siya sa mga mag-uyab, so puno2 jud and mga kan-anan ug lisod kayo isakay ug taxi. K? So kung single ka nya gusto ka mag-celebrate through kaon2, hala sige, pagluto diha.

No. I’m not in a relationship or what. It’s not that I’m excited for Valentines. No. Not that. I just came up with that expression this noon. You know that embarrassing moment when your cousin and her friends are chilling in your apartment, you pass by, go to your room upstairs, then your cousin told you that you had a package, then you come rushing downstairs that you almost fell from the stairs along with your mac book and you almost hit the table because you were in a rush? Yeah. I know that feeling too. It happened to me.

So yeah.. lo and behold… the package I’ve been waiting for…

And tada! The Mario Maurer for Penshoppe photobook! This photobook was a freebie during Penshoppe’s Encore show last December 2011. I was so sad I wasn’t able to attend but hey! Ms. Joyce decided to send me one. (Thank you so much Queen B! I’m thankful for everything you’ve done for me.)

I was supposed to have an ‘autographed’ one but Ms. Joyce’s trip to BKK didn’t push through. Sad but oh well. Everything’s still great because I have this!

The photo book was filled with really OH-SOME photos of Mario! Photos from his PENSHOPPE campaign and his first trip here in the Philippines. Which by the way, made me really miss the Fancon and Philippine Fashion Week. It was a tiring week but seeing Mario Maurer in person was totally worth it. 

And of course, I will never forget his soft hands. Yes. I was part of the top 100 so I had the opportunity to stand on the mosh pit. I didn’t mind standing because I was really close to the stage. I got to touch his hands and stare at him. I’m not really that ‘tahimik at mahinhin’ person during events but during that time, all I did was just stare at him. Got to interact with VJ Utt, Sir Alex, Badgirl (Oh’s manager) and Grit (Oh’s hairstylist) too. And the big plus? I got to meet my online friends.

Okay. Stop with the reminiscing.lol. I’m not in the photo but hey! I got to touch his hands like these people in the photo did. I was just on the other side.

Today, I celebrated my 1st year anniversary of being a Mario Maurer fan. Who would’ve thought that my curiosity about that video that had gone viral on my news feed would lead me to the person I am now. Sounds dramatic but yeah. Within that year, I can say that I’ve grown. Being a Mario Maurer fan led me to meeting wonderful and awesome people online, now, I call them friends. I’ve been to places and events that I have never imagined before. I’ve done stuffs that I never did before. AND WHO WOULD’VE THOUGHT THAT WITHIN THAT YEAR, I MET AND TOUCHED THE HANDS OF MARIO MAURER!?? Yes. I promised myself that I can’t die without meeting even just one of my biases.

And now, to celebrate… I watched the movie again. AND ORDERED SOME AWESOME MARIO MAURER RED VELVET CUPCAKES.HA!

Now that Mario started his INVASION in the Philippines, (thanks to PENSHOPPE, ABS-CBN, STAR CINEMA and of course, PUBLICITYASIA) I’m definitely looking forward to an awesome SUMMER 2012. Because I know they’re preparing a big surprise for us, fans :)
